The only way to see the remote northern coastline of Western Australia is by air. Our route to Kalumburu Aboriginal Community and the Mitchell Plateau takes you over tidal mud flats, mangrove systems, waterfalls and deep gorges. Spot crocodiles, manta rays, dugong and other sea creatures. Our flight path takes in the Ord River Irrigation Area, Lower Ord River, Carlton Hill & Ivanhoe Stations, Wyndham, Cambridge Gulf and Adolphus Island before reaching the coast. We then take you over the Berkeley River Gorge, King George Falls, up to Kalumburu where we land to walk into the Community and the Mission. The museum here contains World War 2 artifacts and some very interesting pieces of aboriginal history. Have morning tea at the mission before our departure to the Mitchell Falls.
Sweeping orbits of the Mitchell Falls before we stop for lunch at Drysdale River Station –try the real Kimberley beef burger! Return via El Questro, Emma Gorge with memorable views of the setting sun on the western walls of the Cockburn Range.
Note: The Kalumburu tour is run by volunteers and sometimes guides or morning tea are not available.
*All rates are valid from 1st April 2009 to 31st March 2011.*
